Software Development Intern - National Service

Are you a recent graduate with excellent software development skills? Were you in the top of your computer science class? Do you enjoy writing software programs to solve business problems? Enterprise Africa Business Systems (EABS) is seeking qualified National Service personnel interested in acquiring work experience in software development.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in computer science
  • Strong programming skills, including facility with at least some of the following:
    PHP, Perl, Python, Java, C and C++.
  • Intermediate / Advanced Unix/Linux skills
  • Experience with shell scripting, such as ksh/bash

  • Additional Skills (the ideal candidate has familiarity with at least some of the following):

  • Agile software development methods
  • Database development with one or more of: MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL, Oracle.
  • Web development frameworks: Python/Django, Ruby on Rails, Catalyst or Symfony
  • Integrated development environments such as Eclipse, NetBeans, Radrails, or Dreamweaver.
  • Graphics software such GIMP, Photoshop, or Fireworks.

Three positions are available:

  1. Web Application Developer (PHP)
  2. The successful applicant for this position will specialize in development of modules and applications related to e-commerce, corporate networking and web development using Drupal and Wordpress. Learn more at www.drupal.org and www.wordpress.org

  3. Web Application Developer (Java)
  4. The successful applicant for this position will specialize in development of modules and applications related to e-commerce, corporate networking and web development using dotCMS. You can learn more at http://www.dotcms.org/

  5. System Administrator
  6. The successful applicant for this position will specialize in shell scripting and providing Unix-related administrative support for a variety of projects and applications.

All positions will include experience in:

End-to-end development, including technical design, implementation of interface requirements, performance, task estimation, development, testing and deployment. Working with technical lead and interface designers to complete projects in an appropriate time-frame.
